To name a winner I used Random.org to generate a number which represented each person from the comments, with each person having only one entry and with 10 comments, but two from the same person counting as one, i input 1-9 and clicked generate.

{Etsy storque showcase}

Today I have my Black Forest postcards in the paper goods showcase on Etsy. You can find them here in my shop.

I have finally finished university and have lots of ideas for Etsy products - mostly paper cut designs, that I can't wait to get started on!
I will be buying the supplies today and should be making a start later tonight so I will have something to post tomorrow.

{WIP - Black Forest Postcard Series}

These are my final paper cuts for my postcard brief at University. During the whole process I have had not one single cut! I did have one blade bend and snap in my face though and now have sore fingers from holding the scalpel! Oh well, practice makes perfect!

WIP Wednesday

I am thinking about having a regular post on a Wednesday of my work in progress to give you something interesting to read and to motivate me to produce work to a deadline! This images is my work in progress (WIP) of the "Postcards from the Black Forest" I have really enjoyed the paper cutting and i find it quite relaxing, but i do forget to stretch and my back gets a little achy!


I decided black paper would suit the theme more and its a thicker, better quality paper. All I have to do now is the fine detailed cutting out. I can't wait to finish this brief at university so I can carry on with my other ideas to utilise these designs into greeting cards or pieces of art.

Hansel & Gretel

This is the start of my Black forest series. I thought it would be interesting for you to see how I progressed, so here it is right at the start. This is the test for the cut out of the text and how to link it all together. I have also included some iconic imagery from Hansel and Gretel, candy canes from the house made of sweets and I think the typography is quite fitting too.
It also has a floral border that I illustrated but I haven't cut that out yet.
I first just wanted to see how the paper cut would work with the typography, image and the border connecting together.

Bank Holiday - weekend goodness

I am creating postcards for a brief at university and I'm going to create a series of them called "Postcards from the Black Forest" They will focus on dark edgy fairy tales, will be created from cut paper. I will be using quality cartridge paper and a craft knife, that's it! The focus is on typography and illustration using negative space and detail.


For university, I am only going to create a series of three, (depending on time) and once finished I might create more paper cuts to add to the series. As soon as I have something substantial to show I will put it up. I am thinking that if these look good enough I will put them in my Etsy shop as printed postcards, so lets hope they work out!
