{Feature Friday}

Julia Trigg is a Brighton based who studied at the Royal College of Art. She has worked as a Graphic Designer and her love of typography & ephemera has led her to experiment with digital collage, as she couldn't bear to cut up all her collected ephemera (how could you when it's all so amazing!) {WIP Wednesday}

Last week I was working on an illustration for the Foxtrot Collective and showed a little sneaky peek of it here, below you can see the final finished piece that I contributed. All the cogs and text are hand cut then photographed, with the texture around it being digitally added. I really wanted to experiment with some texture, some digital elements and thought this was the perfect way to experiment! The colour scheme was greyscale and I had to illustrate the word mike within the theme machine. Success or failure, I'm not sure yet, but I had fun experimenting with something different and creating something more digital with papercuts!

{Finished A-Z of Birds}

I can't believe i have finally finished them! These have taken me the best part of two weeks, i did a few every day, first illustrating them by hand, scanning them in and then drawing over them in illustrator, then colouring them. I have put them into a booklet that will become an A-Z of Birds and as soon as i have created some hand drawn typography to go with them I will get a few printed to give away here on my blog and list them in my shop too. {A-Z Bird Update}

I have been trying to get these birds finished now as i am really not in the mood at the moment to keep using illustrator. I started out by doing this project as i wanted to learn how to use illustrator more so i can have a better understanding of it before i go back to university but my fingers hurt now from using my laptop trackpad. Anyway im pretty pleased with my illustrations as i am not that good at drawing (well i thought so) but i can see improvement now so it is all worth it!

I am illustrating 26 birds, from A-Z for a university project and thought you might like to see my progress so far! I started at Z as i already had a Zebra finch all drawn out, so I'm going backwards, making my way to A. I will be putting these into a small book once i have drawn them all and I have already drawn out the following (which you can see below) -
