WIP Wednesday

A little photo set up that I've been working on this week...

{Monday Morning}

Good Morning!

I hope you're all having a nice day on your last day of the long weekend! Today I will be making a start on designing and planning all the Mr Yen Christmas products for this year. I have given myself a deadline of just a week to get everything designed and ready to be made up for photographs. This year I have a few ideas for some letterpress items, some prints of some detailed papercuts and lots of festive papercut products - with maybe even a 2012 calendar! (I'm thinking letterpress mixed with papercuts)

Oh, one last little thing....the Mr Yen Newsletter should be sent out today (I know, a day late), with a free desktop calendar (using an image of some of my experimental papercuts) and a gift tag tutorial! If you would like to sign up, you can do so here.

Anyway, I have a busy day ahead of me so I best get on with it - I hope you can have a more relaxed Monday than I will be having!

{WIP Wednesday}

This week I have been finishing up the wholesale order I received last week and I now have a proud war wound on my index finger... It's only a small lump, but it aches and stings so much I am going to have to give papercutting a rest for today!

In other news the mrYen decorative Christmas tape has arrived and is now for sale in my etsy shop! & I will be creating a blog post next week showing the many ways that the tape can be used, other than wrapping packages!

Well, it's been quite a while since I blogged and the whole planning posts didn't happen either as I have just been to busy (which is a good thing! I'm not complaining!)

I just thought I would check in to let you know that I am so busy recently as I have just received my first wholesale order, which I will reveal next week, once it is all sent off! ...& to let you know that the next 10 orders from my Etsy shop get a free postcard as seen in Computer Arts magazine (and above) I also included some images that I have taken recently from around the apartment as I have just acquired a nice set of letterpress letters from Handmade By Alison.

Other important bits of information you might like to know, well in advance, are the last dates for mrYen orders to be shipped out and the last date I will be accepting custom orders to get to you in time for Christmas, which I have detailed below:

Last date for custom orders:
Tuesday 30th of November

Last dates for shipping in time for Christmas:
UK:
Monday 20th of December:
1st class

Thursday 23rd December:
Special Delivery

Elsewhere:
Monday 6th December:
South & Central America, Caribbean, Africa, Middle East, Asia, Far East (including Japan), Australia and New Zealand

Friday 10th December:
Eastern Europe, USA and Canada

Monday 13th December:
Western Europe

Hope to see you back here on Friday!

This morning I finally got around to photographing some of my new Xmas stock & have listed some seasonal greeting cards and a set of four matching tags. I also managed to photograph & list the limited edition papercut in my etsy shop now, with only 10 editions being available!

Each card (as you can see above) has a deep ruby red interior and a bright snow white exterior, with a hand cut design. The set of four tags match the designs of the cards and are also red and white.

Making, photographing & writing the descriptions for these products is getting me all excited for the holiday season, plus, now with it getting darker earlier, it makes me think of Christmas and I can't wait to start buying & making presents for people too!

Hope you have had a productive Monday!

Hello! Its been a while since I actually sat down & took the time to blog. How are you all?

This week I took Toby to get his final injection which means he can go out in a week! While we were at the vets we got him micro chipped too which was slightly painful for him and he even bled a bit. Now all the initial vet visits have been made, he doesn't have to go back for another year now, unless something happens to him (lets hope it doesn't!) so I can get back into a routine for work again.

I have also slowly been making my way through the festive products (1.2) that I will be releasing for the Christmas period and have slowly started setting up a mrYen big cartel shop too! I am aiming to open the big cartel shop with the new products early in November, just in time for all those Christmas orders! Also, this week I am planning on creating a few blog posts for the week ahead to see how it works out as I'm getting so busy now I keep putting this blog on the back burner! (but I have fancied up the blog header a bit!)

Oh....also, since setting myself up as a freelance designer/maker I decided I should create limited edition papercuts for special occasions, such as the one I have designed above, so I will only be making 10 of these. Keep an eye out for them once they are released! & I will be splitting them between my etsy shop & my new big cartel shop.

Hope your having a good week!

This weeks WIP is going to be a quick post as I have so much to catch up on since Toby has arrived! I have started to make some designs for decorative/packaging tape, which (if all goes to plan) will be printed and available in my etsy shop before Christmas (yes I am designing for Christmas finally!) These will hopefully be the first of many designs for decorative/packaging tape as I am trying to design for more stationery & practical products. The top two images are of the designs in repeat and the bottom two images are the details of the designs.
Let me know what you think!

{shop update}

I have listed an affordable print of my "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" papercut and a squirrel Christmas card design that I loved making! I have made a few sets and if they sell well and people ask for more of them I will make more, but saying that, the last days for international orders to be received for Christmas will be 1st December. This is to ensure that your products get to you in time as sometimes it can take up to three weeks for international delivery. For orders from the UK, the last day for Christmas orders will be 15th December. The last days for international custom orders during the Christmas/Holiday period will be 1st December and 15th December for custom orders within the UK.

{weekend goodness}

Firstly! Last night poppytalk tweeted about my paper cuts and they are featured on the poppytalk blog here! I have read the blog for a while now and it always has great finds on it, i have always wanted to be featured on it! Thanks so much Jan!

Right..... this weekend i will be finding batteries and some film for my new camera that a friend bought me for an early xmas present. I cant wait to get it working! also i will be listing some print sets in my shop soon that will be called "Winter Whites". The prints will be in sets of three and will cost $15 for one set. They are photographs i have taken over the year and i thought they would make a nice little stocking filler, which i will gift wrap before packaging and posting. (the first image is of the winter whites set and the second image is of my very first succulent plant!)
