{WIP wednesday}

this week I am working on sorting out all the files I have on my computer as it is running so slow, it needs sorting out as soon as possible before my mac breaks down and as I am getting so many exciting emails this week, I need to be as organised as possible before I get snowed under with work. Here are some files that I am organising.......illustrations from the mushroom book I used for my Alice in Wonderland book cover inspiration

more about the exciting emails when I can speak about them ^_^

{weekend goodness}

...is some new Alice in Wonderland papercut bookmarks in my etsy shop {they are available as single bookmarks, or in a set of three} and blogging about other papercut artists [more on this early next week - oh and there will be a big weekly update tomorrow as I missed last weeks]

{WIP wednesday}

this week I am working on an Alice in Wonderland book cover design for a competition brief (that I am also using as a brief for University. I am in the process of playing with floral silhouette illustrations that I have in a vintage book and you can also see the start of a mock design for a papercut. I decided to focus on the part of the story with the singing flowers as a reference and thought it provided some great visual imagery!

{WIP Wednesday}

This is a special work in progress Wednesday as this really is a genuine sneaky peek into something I have brewing that I can't reveal until later... (next week maybe) Its going to be worth the wait, so sit tight!

{weekend goodness}

some weekend goodness in the form of a small notepad i made. Im thinking about making some to put in the shop with either personalised debossed initials or personalised papercut initials. What do you think?

Have a nice weekend!

{new papercuts}

These papercuts were one of the most enjoyable ones ive done! I have used my Alice in Wonderland Quote and added one of my birds to an ornate frame, that i originally drew to be a mirror. It is for sale in my etsy shop now, so you can all rush to buy and I also created another papercut with a few birds on wires, also available in my etsy shop.

{update}

Today i took some photos of my studio (which is a mess) so i will be inclined to clean it for tomorrows update and i listed a new paper cut quote by the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. The right image can be clicked to take you to it.

{new layout and blog overhaul}

I have really wanted to give my blog a new look as when I first started it I picked a simple template and just got going. After blogging for over two years for university and having blogged for mrYen a few months, I have read many blogs and seen so many interesting layouts, designs and templates that I feel I really do need something that suits my style more and something that i feel comfortable with to show my images and text in a way that i feel proud of. I would also love anybody reading this to comment more (I need to do the same on the blogs that I read) as I would like this blog to be more of a two way communication. I originally intended this blog to be a place where I record my creations and promote my shop, but I feel as though I need/want more of my personality and personal life here. I will be putting these changes into effect and will also only be having a {Feature Friday} twice a month instead of weekly. On another note, while changing my blog layout and having my blog down for maintenance last night i lost a blog follower and ten twitter followers! On the up side....... my Alice in Wonderland PaperCut Quote was featured on Etsy's front page!

{WIP Wednesday}

...well this is the start of some collage greetings cards that i am creating for my etsy shop. I am in the process of creating a small card like my paper mountains work but in black, Alice in wonderland quote cards, using the cut out letters from my other pieces and a card using the cut out tree from one of my other pieces in my shop. I waste no piece of paper if it can be useful!

{experimental paper cut}

I have been working on this experimental paper cut, with another quote from Alice in Wonderland. It is very delicate and fragile and making my paper cuts stronger and sturdier is something I will work on in my future work. I'm unsure of whether to put this in my shop as some parts have become detached and I want to mount it onto some really nice paper but I don't know what to do with it. for the moment I think it will be just an experiment.

{Early WIP Wednesday...new paper cut quote}

Here is a little WIP goodness. This is the second, hand cut paper quote in my Alice in Wonderland series. I am starting to love Baskerville (the font I am using) as I love its mixture of curves and straight edges its so nice to cut! anyway here is the new quote which is in my shop now! (again clicking the photos takes you straight to the listing on Etsy) I

I'ts time for a rest now as my fingers are starting to hurt! plus i have university work to do before tomorrow!

{All in a day}

Well considering I was quite lazy the other day, today I have been very productive!

As soon as I woke up I had another amazing coffee, cleaned the whole apartment and created a new paper cut design for my Etsy shop! Its an Alice in Wonderland quote and I'm looking forward to doing so many more of these!
I chose Alice in Wonderland as I wanted to use plain typography to represent something quite whimsical and strange and Alice in Wonderland has perfect quotes for this, so I've made a start now and I'm just researching more quotes so I can make more paper cuts.

I didn't know whether I wanted to place anything behind the quote, but I decided to leave it blank. This way, who ever buys it will be able to place whatever they want behind it, if they want to!
